Prerequisites: Students must know how to read Arabic words and letters beforehand (without understanding).

Ages: All ages welcome.

FAQ: Can I take this course with the Understanding Quranic Arabic course? Answer: Yes! The two courses compliment each other. This course focuses on speaking and conversation.

Course Description: This course is for students who want to learn how to speak Formal Arabic (Modern Standard) and converse with other Arabic speakers.

Course Format:The course is twice a week for a total of 32 LIVE sessions (1 hour each) over about 4 months. Each session involves a short lesson from the instructor and then conversational practice with the instructor.

Course Curriculum: Students cover the following topics: greetings, how to introduce yourself, basic Arabic sentence construction, how to describe your background, your family, how to ask questions, how to talk about time, and much more.

Ustadh Muhammad

Senior Instructor

Ustadh Muhammad is a native Arabic speaker with formal degrees in Arabic language and literature. He has taught English-speaking students at all levels, from beginner to advanced students of knowledge, for over 10 years. He teaches classical Arabic language texts such as the Ajrumiyya, Alfiyya of Ibn Malik, etc., as well as modern Arabic textbooks. He specializes in Balagha (rhetoric) and poetry, but enjoys teaching Nahu (grammar) and Sarf (morphology) as well.

Course Schedule

Classes are held on Sundays at 12pm to 1pm Eastern US time and Wednesdays 6pm to 7pm Eastern US time.
